What is Faith?

Faith is not that warm and fuzzy feeling you get when you can finally see how God is going to work out a problem. Faith doesn't come when you get to see the light at the end of the tunnel and congratulate yourself because "you had faith and God brought you through". No, my brothers and sisters - that is not faith.

Faith is the choice you make when your life is falling apart and can't possibly be saved. It's the choice you make when you see nothing but blackness and keep tripping over the railroad ties in the dark. It's the prayer you cry from your knees when you've fallen for the seventh time and see no reason to rise again. It's when you have no idea how everything will ever be alright again, but yet you say "Lord, I choose to believe you when you said 'all things work together for the good'. I choose to have Faith in you today."

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1

Christmas traditions are spare in my family, the most persistent tradition being that we didn’t celebrate it at all for many years. But recently, various traditions from past years have been reborn. D
